Timothy Strong, serves on the piano faculty of Pacific Lutheran University and has also taught in the University of Puget Sound Community Music Department for more than two decades. Many of his students of both composition and piano have won and placed highly in state and national competitions, including those of the MTNA, and some have also received distinction through the Diploma level of the international examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music of the UK. Prof. Strong is presently the President of the Tacoma Chapter of the Music Teachers National Association.
His initial home and schooling was in Tacoma, WA, where he attended the University of Puget Sound as a full scholarship student in music, during which time he appeared in the Second Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and was also runner-up in the Brewster-Allison National Piano Competition. His graduate degrees are from the Univ. of Texas/ Austin and UCLA.
