Svitlana Smaga is classically trained pianist. “Artful education - is how I view the piano study. There is no mystery or magic in learning to play a piano beautifully, it is all about learning the right things and practicing them the right way. I teach all ages and levels, particularly enjoy teaching artistry and technique to advanced students”.
Originally from Ukraine, Svitlana Smaga received her Masters degrees in Piano Performance from the Donetsk State Conservatory and Mariupol Music College, taught at the School of Arts in her hometown of Mariupol and performed regionally as a soloist and collaborative artist. After relocating to The U.S.A in 2005, she served as a piano instructor and staff accompanist at the College of the Siskiyous in California. Between 2012 and 2017 Svitlana enjoyed a professional career as a collaborative pianist for Tacoma Opera, now focusing on studio teaching and performing. Her recent engagements include solo recital of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at en exhibition, Faure’s and Medtner’s piano quintets, Tacoma Opera’s productions of Die Fledermaus, La Boheme, Eugene Onegin. Svitlana is a guest pianist for the internationally acclaimed Rimsky-Korsakov String Quartet from St. Petersburg, Russia.
