Kaity Igari is a classical pianist and music teacher. She began piano lessons at age 7, studying seriously and enthusiastically throughout childhood, before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music from the University of Puget Sound in 2010. Ms. Igari’s playing has included solo works, ensemble piano works, chamber music, and sacred music. She has received awards from the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA) and the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, and was a recipient of the Keyboard and Josè Iturbi music scholarships at Puget Sound. Ms. Igari began teaching privately in 2003 and is a member of the Gig Harbor and Tacoma chapters of the WSMTA. In 2008, she joined the faculty of the Puget Sound Community Music Department, teaching there until graduation from the university. She is pursuing professional certification from the Music Teachers National Association and and holds certificates in the Kodály Method (OAKE) and in World Music Pedagogy (Smithsonian Folkways) . Ms. Igari maintains a private studio in Tacoma, WA.
